Osler Hires Gillian Scott to Lead Legal Innovation Projects

North American law firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP recently appointed Gillian Scott to the new role of Partner, Innovation Products, as part of the firm’s overall innovation strategy and commitment to launching its new legal technology service offerings.

According to the firm, Scott’s responsibilities will include the “development, staffing, pricing, launch and sale of all new legal service offerings that address clients’ pain points and service gaps”. Scott’s first focus in the role will be on Osler Dash, the Franchise and Distribution Group’s automated franchise disclosure and e-contracting platform that was announced just earlier this year.

The move reflects Osler’s continued commitment to innovation in the business of law. “She’ll be working closely with the Innovation team, our Osler Works group and our client development team to ensure the delivery of client-focused innovative solutions, products and services”, according to the firm’s announcement last Friday.

Further down the innovative product pipeline for Osler are the following platforms:

  • AccessPrivacy – a subscription-based online knowledge management resource designed to help chief privacy officers, in-house counsel and compliance professionals navigate the increasingly complex range of privacy issues facing organizations today.
  • Estoppel Express – streamlining the process of obtaining estoppel certificates in multi-tenant real estate transactions.
  • Employment Compliance Stress Test – designed to quickly identify key areas of vulnerability within an organization’s employment function.

Scott brings 15 years of experience as a commercial litigator and litigation partner at Osler, as well as 3 years’ experience in Client Development. Scot has also been ranked as one of the best lawyers in Canada in franchise law, providing her with a unique background to lead the development and launch of Osler’s legal technology projects.
